Congratulations Don Bluth & Gary Goldman!!! Dragon’s Lair just reached $250,000 on Indiegogo!! This is great news for the world of Traditional Animation. These two living legends have proven that hand-drawn animation is alive and well. I have had the honor and privilege to work for Don Bluth & Gary Goldman through their Kickstarter and help re-start their new Indiegogo campaign. It has been a wild ride so far, they even asked me to move out to Arizona to help them everyday, to make this dream a reality.

It has worked!!! There has been so much positive responses around the world with the occasional bad apples. Some might try to sweep traditional animation under the rug but Don & Gary have proven them all wrong. Over the years hand-drawn animation has made millions on crowd-funding websites such as; Aaron Blaise’s “Art Story”, James Lopez’s “Hullabaloo”, John K’s “Cans Without Labels”, Ralph Bakshi’s “Last Days of Coney Island”, Simon Tofield’s “Simon’s Cat” and many more. What proof does the entertainment industry need, to be honest who cares!

Creators, artists, animators, and directors can fund their own work and create new masterpieces with the help of worldwide fans. Please enjoy these update videos with Don & Gary talking about Dragon’s Lair. We did it guys, less than two weeks and Dragon’s Lair is funded. Next up stretch goals, new contests, new perks, new EVERYTHING!!

Lavalle Lee

Lavalle Lee has been creating animated cartoons online since 1999/2000 for his website flashcartoons.org. Many cartoons on the site have gained viral video status reaching millions of viewers online. In 2009, Lavalle started learning hand drawn animation from Don Bluth in his animation classes, as well as attending his Masterclasses in Arizona. He has also personally studied animation and visual effects from Veteran Disney animators in Orlando, FL.

Lavalle is widely known in the animation industry as the creator of the TraditionalAnimation.com website. After seeing that most animation sites were about all types of animation, not any specific to classical hand drawn animation, Lavalle knew Traditional Animation needed to be represented online. TraditionalAnimation.com has become the leading website and social media account for all things 2D. The website served as inspiration for “The Traditional Animation Show” in which Lavalle was both producer and host.

His partnership with Don Bluth began when he championed the Dragon's Lair Indiegogo campaign as lead project manager, editor, voice actor and in-betweener. The campaign reached $730,000 dollars to produce a 7-minute pitch video. In 2017, Lavalle brought the idea of creating a school to Don Bluth, and Don Bluth University was born. After a decade of learning from Don Bluth and working together on multiple pitches and business ventures, Lavalle accepted the position as Vice President of Don Bluth's new company Don Bluth Studios.

But does this mean a few minutes are funded or the entire film is funded?

no, it will only fund the release of a 10 minutes Promo done to convince a major studio to produce the full film who has an estimated budget of 70 millions of dollars, and show that there is still a big interest for 2D animated movie, and especially this one 🙂 !

AMAZING! This is a dream come true! It was the beauty of the original Dragon’s Lair that stoked my passion for traditional animation. The idea of a full length feature has been a dream for decades. To see this project closer to reality brings me a lot of joy. It looks like, no matter what, we will be getting a few more minutes of Dragon’s Lair- and considering the original footage was so short, ANY addition is huge!!

This is an exciting day for hand drawn animation. I grew up with these guys and I’m glad to see that a new project by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman could be in the works. Let’s hope this goes to the silver screen. Long live Bluth Productions.

I always loved Anastasia and Titan AI as a kid, but never knew that they were Bluth films until much later. This campaign has certainly sparked my interest in the talent behind those movies and many others that I’m only now catching up on. If anyone can bring 2d back it’s this legend.
    You go, guys!

I have no doubt, that traditional animation can and will live again!
Now all depends on a really good screenplay!
A great story, great screenplay and great directing and I’m sure, that “Dragon’s Lair” will get it’s audience around the world, (y)

Hi. I LOVED Dragon’s Lair when I was younger, and your films have always been favorites of mine! When I was in school I had to learn through rotoscoping, and I really appreciated your work even more. My question really goes to copyright and the fact that I am ignorant if you’ve covered this elsewhere. Normally my experience with creative work is that anything that I create is the studio’s property. Now that we’re starting to see some push back from major studios about intellectual property, have you secured the rights to use your original designs and IP from the former companies? I’d love to see a Dragon’s Lair movie. Best to you all!
