First Image from the New 2017 Ducktales Reboot!

Last year when Disney announced the new Ducktales animated series reboot that will be premiering on Disney XD, I was ecstatic! Ducktales has to be one the greatest animated cartoons of all time and now they are back! Disney released a first image from the new series and it is looking great!

Disney plans to release the new series in 2017 and will star the same characters including Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Duey and Louie, Donald Duck and Webby Vanderquack. Disney did a reboot of Mickey Mouse and Ducktales looks to follow suit.

Everybody sing! “Life is like a hurricane, here in Duckburg…”

Lavalle Lee

Lavalle Lee has been creating animated cartoons online since 1999/2000 for his website flashcartoons.org. Many cartoons on the site have gained viral video status reaching millions of viewers online. In 2009, Lavalle started learning hand drawn animation from Don Bluth in his animation classes, as well as attending his Masterclasses in Arizona. He has also personally studied animation and visual effects from Veteran Disney animators in Orlando, FL.

Lavalle is widely known in the animation industry as the creator of the TraditionalAnimation.com website. After seeing that most animation sites were about all types of animation, not any specific to classical hand drawn animation, Lavalle knew Traditional Animation needed to be represented online. TraditionalAnimation.com has become the leading website and social media account for all things 2D. The website served as inspiration for “The Traditional Animation Show” in which Lavalle was both producer and host.

His partnership with Don Bluth began when he championed the Dragon's Lair Indiegogo campaign as lead project manager, editor, voice actor and in-betweener. The campaign reached $730,000 dollars to produce a 7-minute pitch video. In 2017, Lavalle brought the idea of creating a school to Don Bluth, and Don Bluth University was born. After a decade of learning from Don Bluth and working together on multiple pitches and business ventures, Lavalle accepted the position as Vice President of Don Bluth's new company Don Bluth Studios.

The Disney comics it was based on have been around since before WWII and are still massively popular on Europe and South America. This is less “another reboot”, more “another cartoon using elements of the comics”, following in a line that includes things like Wonderful World of Colour.

I like the designs and color choices, they feel reminiscent of the original Carl Barks comics; fitting, in that it was those comics where Scrooge McDuck originated!

    Hmmmm, I guess.

    It does look fun, though.

Style is MUCH better than in the original (which I never cared for while I love and own the whole Carl Barks library), and its nice to see hand drawn stuff in this day and age.

My impression is that it looks like it’s done fully on computer. Possibly by Mercury Filmworks. For sure, though, I believe this may be a good reboot.

I grew up with the original DuckTales on VHS. I still remember the theme song. This actually looks like it’d be good, and actually pay respect to the original. The new Powerpuff Girls reboot is absolutely awful, though. (They already have it up on KissCartoon.) That being said, I still don’t understand why networks can’t just go back to airing original shows, it’s not like kids would enjoy it any less. I don’t feel that 90’s animation should have to be seen as outdated, and reboot culture in general is getting really annoying.

Not bad. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

I dunno how I feel about this… why a reboot? Why not just rerun the original? Guess I’ll just have to wait and see. The style doesn’t look too bad I guess…
