Quick update: in the past two~three weeks many bugs and a number of missing features have been restored.
The latest nightly build can be downloaded here:

Among other things, the room editor is now full functional again, which means the setup video in the original post is no longer required. Unlock the lock symbol at the top right of the screen, and right-mouse click any room name to add a new room which features all the menu items. Then add new windows, and arrange those as you see fit.
