Lavalle Lee

Lavalle Lee

Lavalle Lee has been creating animated cartoons online since 1999/2000 for his website flashcartoons.org. Many cartoons on the site have gained viral video status reaching millions of viewers online. In 2009, Lavalle started learning hand drawn animation from Don Bluth in his animation classes, as well as attending his Masterclasses in Arizona. He has also personally studied animation and visual effects from Veteran Disney animators in Orlando, FL.

Lavalle is widely known in the animation industry as the creator of the TraditionalAnimation.com website. After seeing that most animation sites were about all types of animation, not any specific to classical hand drawn animation, Lavalle knew Traditional Animation needed to be represented online. TraditionalAnimation.com has become the leading website and social media account for all things 2D. The website served as inspiration for “The Traditional Animation Show” in which Lavalle was both producer and host.

His partnership with Don Bluth began when he championed the Dragon's Lair Indiegogo campaign as lead project manager, editor, voice actor and in-betweener. The campaign reached $730,000 dollars to produce a 7-minute pitch video. In 2017, Lavalle brought the idea of creating a school to Don Bluth, and Don Bluth University was born. After a decade of learning from Don Bluth and working together on multiple pitches and business ventures, Lavalle accepted the position as Vice President of Don Bluth's new company Don Bluth Studios.

Hi Andreas, we worked on some of the same films at Disney in the past. I was an Effects Animator on many Disney films (Hercules, Fantasia 2000 (Firebird Suite), Tarzan, Atlantis, Treasure Planet and later on Princess and the Frog. After Disney I worked at Dreamworks on Sinbad and then as a Character Animator for Television and other projects. It would be an honor to work for you on your film “Mushka”. I think it is awesome that you are bringing Traditional Animation back. I would love to be part of your team. I am willing to do Effects, Character clean-up or In-betweener or whatever is needed to make your project a success. Working with you would be an incredible hi-light to my career. My e-mail address is: dkcenich23@gmail.com

I wish you all the best and hopefully I can be part of this wonderful project!

    Cheers,

    David

    Dear Mr. Deja

Hello, my name is Kathryn Massey, and I am a recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a great focus in hand-drawn animation. All my life I have enjoyed nothing more than drawing and creating characters and stories for the sake of entertaining people everywhere, and my greatest pleasure is to watch my drawings come to life on screen with the knowledge that I had put that life into them. My hope is to someday work side by side with fellow animators who share an equal love and enthusiasm for both preserving and enhancing the fluid spectacle of hand-drawn animation, and it would be an incredible honor and privilege to work on a film such as ‘Mushka’, with such a captivating concept and character design. If you are able, I ask that you please take the time to view my work on my website in the hopes that you may consider me to be a part of such a creative team as either a rough animator or an inbetweener. Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and I wish you the very best with this amazing production!

    Sincerely,
    Kathryn Massey

    Hi Andreas,
It’s been a long time since Disney Australia closed down. I hope you are fine..Working with you back in the days was one of the exciting events in my career as an animator. So awesome that you have this project going on. So good to know that 2D traditional animation is so alive.. I love the style of the trailer..Since I’m still based in Sydney and raising a family with twin boys I wont be able to apply and work in L.A. It would be a great fun to join your team otherwise…In anyway, I would be glad to help remotely..Thanks and keep the fire burning..Take care..Rizaldy

    Hello Andreas,

My name is Katie, and I would love to apply as an animator or inbetweener for your film. I’m new to the animation industry, but I’ve been working professionally in the field for nearly a year at studios such as Bento Box Entertainment, and small companies like Make Sense Productions. This year my film Frog’s Legs was nominated at the 42nd Annual Annie Awards for Best Student Film. I would love to share my film with you. Below is my demo reel. Working in the field has been a lovely experience, and I’m still as enthusiastic about character animation as I was when I graduated. I currently live in Maine, but I’ve been working to get myself over to LA for a while.

    Dear Mr. Deja,

Many moons ago, I was an assistant animator at Bakshi Studios, on Lord of The Rings, Hanna-Barbera on The Flintstones, and Filmation on He-Man. I have been out of the business for quite some time and may be rusty, but would be appreciative of the opportunity to do inbetween, assistant, clean-up, intern, or grunt work just to be back in that environment. would love to work on traditional feature animation again, my 35 plus years have kept my skills in drawing and beautiful clean up strong, from keys, extremes, breakdowns, inbetweening….would love to see animation return to our glory days: mermaid, alladin, lion king, etc…..computer animation and current hand drawn are missing the original voice of the animator…no milt kahl, glen keene, deja, freddy moore, eric larsen, so many others, my old friends….the assistant and animator need to work closely together again….without producers driving us apart….that is when I felt and participated in this great art form…..animators are actors and artist….this special form can do anything to convey a point of view and give voice to artists….best regards, stanley somers 310 654 7281, we need to sustain this form and past it on to future generations as it was passed to us

    If you need a recommendation!
If you love animation i can recommend you a book, Animate That! Animate that! is an essential animation book for beginners, non software specific, that explains the principles of animation in depth, showing their importance and how to use them. This book will show you how to approach and learn them in the most clear and understandable way. Inside you will find many tips, examples and drawings that makes it very easy for every beginner to start with animation. Even for an intermediate, this book will be a great tool for the revision of knowledge already acquired.
